How do we protect local landscapes from rising pressures of drought and deluge? How can rating system guidelines improve our landscape designs? How can we preserve and restore urban canopies? Join us to explore strategies at the 21st Annual ELA Conference & Eco-Marketplace.

Admission includes educational sessions and workshops, breakfast and lunch, access to vendors of ecological products and services, Jazz Social Hour, and networking opportunities throughout the day.

Wednesday offers two intensive workshops:

  • From Seed to Success: Creating and Sustaining Dynamic Landscapes
  • New Strategies for Water Conservation and Protection

Wednesday Keynote Dinner features Rick Darke as he guides us through landscape layers. The richness of life in any landscape is linked to the diversity in its layers, and this is true for both people and wildlife. Rick Darke will look at layers from ground cover to canopy and will describe and illustrate how to conserve, create and manage them in landscapes that are beautiful, biologically diverse, and joyfully livable.

Thursday begins early with a hands-on workshop featuring the inner workings of irrigation systems. John Swaringen (Water Management Specialist, Bartlett Tree Irrigation Division) will cover a wide range of topics from tips for communicating with irrigation contractors to fixing common irrigation failures.
