Business Member Industry Segment Categories

 

Business Products or Services (BP)
A firm that sells or provides business products or services such as financing, insurance, consulting, or marketing.

Commercial Flower Grower (CFG)
A firm that grows annuals, perennials, or seasonal potted plants. The “CFG” category includes wholesale flower growers or retailers who grow annuals and perennials for their own sales.

Equipment (EQ)
A firm that sells, rents or leases equipment or machinery used by nursery and landscape-related companies.

Garden Center (GC)
A firm that is a full-service retailer of plants, garden tools and accessories.

Hardscape Contractor (HC)
A firm that specializes in the installation and/or design of hardscape elements in the landscape such as walls, decks, pavers, patios, ponds or other water features, or landscape lighting.

Hardscape Supply Center (HS)
A firm that sells landscape rock, retaining wall blocks, patio pavers, or other non-plant goods needed for landscape construction projects. The “HS” category includes both wholesale and retail hardscape supply centers.

Irrigation Contractor (IC)
A firm that specializes in the design, installation and maintenance of landscape or lawn sprinklers for residential or commercial properties.

Landscape Contractor (LC)
A firm that installs plants, hardscapes, and other landscape elements on residential or commercial sites.

Landscape Designer (LD)
A firm that designs plantings, walkways, retaining walls, ponds or other features in residential or commercial landscapes.

Landscape, Greenhouse or Nursery Supply Center (LS)
A wholesale or re-wholesale firm that sells to landscapers; irrigation professionals; lawn, tree or gardening services; or growers. Product lines may include some or all of these products: trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, growing supplies, chemicals, fertilizers, landscape irrigation supplies, plant production irrigation supplies, soil and soil mixes, and related products.

Landscape Management (LM)
A firm that specializes in either lawn mowing/maintenance or fertilization and pest control in lawns. Some companies may do both. (Individuals who apply pesticides to lawns must pass an examination and receive regular educational updates to be certified by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources.)

Manufacturer (MF)
A firm that manufactures goods used by nursery and landscape-related companies.

Nursery Grower (GR)
A firm that grows woody plants such as trees and shrubs. The “GR” category includes wholesale nursery growers, re-wholesalers, or retailers who grow nursery stock for their own sales.

Professional Gardening Services (GS)
A firm that specializes in the design, installation and/or care of residential or commercial site gardens.

Snow Plowing Services (SP)
If you provide snow plowing and snow removal services to residential and commercial customers.

Tree Care Services (TC)
A firm that specializes in tree maintenance, including pruning, spraying, and removal. Arborists should absolutely check this category.
