The House of Representatives may soon approve legislation known as the Small Business Health Care Relief Act (H.R. 5447). This bipartisan bill would allow small businesses that are not subject to the shared responsibility provision of the Affordable Care Act to provide Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) to employees with health insurance. These HRAs will permit businesses to offer pre-tax dollars to insured employees to help pay premiums and/or other out-of-pocket costs associated with medical care and services.
Consideration of the legislation is imminent in the House. AmericanHort and our legislative partner, the National Christmas Tree Association, joined like-minded organizations on a letter urging the House to pass this common-sense measure.
