Last summer, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed extensive revisions to its Worker Protection Standard regulation. At that time, AmericanHort and collaborators submitted extensive comments on the proposed changes. The regulation, which first took effect in 1992, covers most agricultural operations that use pesticides.
On May 20, EPA published a notice indicating that the final rule has been submitted to the Secretary of Agriculture for review and comment, a required step before publishing it. USDA has 15 days in which to comment. We expect the final rule will be published in June.
