South Shore Great Pumpkin ChallengeMNLA supported the South Shore Great Pumpkin Challenge earlier this year at the Envirothon. Below is updated information about the Challenge.

Timeline

  1. Placement of five Hay Bale Pumpkins takes place on September 26th
  2. Pumpkin Weigh In September 28th at Palm Landscape and Farm on Depot Street from 12-4pm Sponsored by SchoolDude
  3. Pumpkins placed on Depot Street for the Mile of Orange on October 1st from 10am-12pm during the day
  4. Artists are allowed to work on the pumpkins starting October 2nd and 3rd at 8:30am, no later than 7:30pm
  5. Lighting of the pumpkins water lantern jugs October 4th and 5th at 6pm Sponsored by Simpson Spring
  6. Set up of Pumpkin Labyrinth Saturday, October 4th at 7am Sponsored by Bank of Easton made with Langwater Pumpkins
  7. Saturday, October 4th all pumpkins must be completed by 11am
  8. Saturday, October 4th and 5th Pumpkin Labyrinth Open to public 9am-dusk
  9. South Shore Great Pumpkin Challenge awards at 1pm at Center School
  10. Removal of Pumpkin Labyrinth the morning of October 6th
  11. Removal of Pumpkins on the Mile of Orange October 8th from 10am-12pm
  12. Removal of Hay Bale Pumpkins October 9th or 10th

Goals

  • 50 Giant Pumpkins spaced between each telephone pole from the ‘S Curve’ to Center School. (minimum number of giant pumpkins required is 5)
  • 360 Pumpkin Water Lanterns placed evenly between the Giants
  • Pumpkin Labyrinth made with over 360 sugar pumpkins
