Fresh ideas to conserve our most precious resource!
About our program: Water, the element responsible for life on this planet is the one resource we've always taken for granted, until now. Every day on the news there are reports of flooding or drought and it is becoming very clear that it is past time to recognize and take responsibility for our most precious resource. For Trevor Smith MCH of Land Escapes Design Inc., storm water management has become a large portion of the business, from simple downspout disconnect and rain gardens to rainwater harvesting systems designed to irrigate client's property. In this discussion Trevor will shine the light on the severity of today's storm water situation and discuss techniques such as rain gardens, permeable pavements, rain harvesting systems and green roofs for managing storm water on both large and small scales.
About our speaker: Trevor Smith is the lead designer at Arlington, Massachusetts based Land Escapes Design Inc, an ecological landscape design/build company specializing in native plant design, living walls, green roofs, rain harvesting, permeable pavements and urban farming. Trevor is a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist (MCH), Accredited Organic Land Care Professional (AOLCP) and LEED Green Associate (through USGBC). He is currently the President of the Ecological Landscaping Association and holds certifications as a Green Living Technologies (GLT) Living Roof and Wall Installer. Trevor teaches and speaks to the landscape industry, community groups, as well as corporations. More recently, Land Escapes’ designed living walls that were used as the set design for Earth Day 2013 Today Show and was featured in two segments on NECN The Morning Show.
