Bark Mulch is a well known staple in our industry. We use it to prevent weeds, retain moisture, create paths and even dress up unsightly landscapes. Because bark mulch is so ubiquitous, we take the product for granted. We think we know its origins, its benefits, and its makeup.

While it may be hard to believe, when it comes to mulch, ‘times have changed.’ Not all mulches are created equal. It’s time to dig into the impact bark mulch is having on our environment – both the benefits and the concerns.

Our March Twilight Meeting will provide the inside scoop on the mulch material we spread over our soils. Please join Randy Prostak from UMASS Extension as he leads a panel discussion about the science behind the products. Our panel includes representatives from two key players in the market: Coast of Maine Organic Products and The Vermont Mulch Company.
